Once again, our junior pennant players did our Club proud. Day one was at Belmont Golf Club, a beautiful course, and all juniors played well. We had 8 wins out 15 and because we had the biggest team, we had several team members playing each other. Our six youngest players played each other for each of the 3 days so results were better than they appear.
Day two was at Waratah Golf Club and again, all players arrived on time at the Club to board the bus. This was another good day with six wins and three 3 squared matches.
Day three was at Pacific Dunes, a tough course for anyone, but our juniors all played well with five wins and six squared matches. Particular mentions goes to Nichil Pillay at +13 and Amy Squires, who had another good series. In particular, her game at Waratah she was six holes down with six holes left and ended up with a squared match, was a good tough effort by Amy.
The awards of the 3-match series follow:
They give four encouragement awards, two of which were taken out by Adrian Wong and Jye McGarry.
Coming in at 3rd overall was Amy Squires.
The winning club was Nelson Bay Golf Club.
They break every club up into teams and the winning team was Team Green green, which included Yashwant Pillay, Jye Mcgarry, Jack Lawson and Nichil Pillay.
Most of the vouchers up for grabs went to Nelson Bay Golf Club.
In finishing, I would like to say our Juniors Pennants players were very well behaved (although very noisy with excitement on the bus trip home!). It was three very long days with the first day starting 5.50 am and finishing at 4.00pm but they showed up the next day bright-eyed and raring to go! They all played extremely well and were very well behaved at each of the 3 courses we played. They are a credit to NBGC.
I would like to thank Eric Kidd for his continued help and involvement. And thanks also to the Club's Board of Directors for their commitment and support to the Juniors.
