Local Rules: Tree Roots / Kangaroo Damage / Motorised Cart Directional Signs

We have sought and received advice from the R & A via GolfNSW on introducing local rules to cover the above items as follows:

Tree Roots on Fairways

Players will be allowed relief (without penalty) where a ball resting on or near a tree root, on a fairway (closely mown portion) is likely to impact on the player’s safety at the moment of impact or on the opportunity to effectively play a stroke.

The rule Does Not extend to tree roots impacting on a player’s stance

Kangaroo Damage on Fairways

A ball coming to rest in a kangaroo digging on the closely mown portion of the fairway only, may be treated as GUR. However, relief MAY NOT BE taken for interference with stance.

Motorised Cart Directional Signs

There are no grounds for a local rule allowing a replay of a stroke for striking course signs or for providing any relief other than as per Rule 24 Obstructions
