Juniors & Cadets

Nelson Bay Golf Club has a very active development programme for Junior and Cadet golfers.

During school terms a teaching & fitness clinic is conducted every second Thursday under the guidance of Warren Moses, the clubs Teaching Golf  Professional and a 3 hole par 3 competition is played each alternate Thursday where each group is supervised by senior club members.

In addition, each term the Brian & Warren Diemar Golf Scholarship is awarded to a young girl or boy who has not only shown promise as a player but more importantly displayed the correct attitude when attending the clinics.

A Scholarship is also presented on a yearly basis to a young person from the elite sports class at Tomaree High School who shows an aptitude for the game.

The aim of these programmes is to provide young people with a pathway to play the game either socially or as a club member or at a higher level as a competition player representing the club or district.

With strong support from the Board of Directors and Club Members the number of young people attending this programme is ever increasing and it is a pleasure to see these boys and girls “enjoying a hit” in the fresh air.
